Aquapemba

Aquapemba Lda was established in 2008 to assess the feasibility of commercial fish farming in Pemba Bay, Mozambique. Since then, investors have spent approximately USD 750 000 and the original set of questions have been answered: to assess the site suitability, market potential, political environment, social environment, infrastructure, legal processes and financial frameworks. In addition the company has successfully negotiated three large water leases, a land operations lease and a public/private partnership with a large local marine science centre. Fish have been successfully imported into Mozambique, reared in the pilot scale hatchery and grown in sea cages.All performance trials have yielded acceptable results, and fish marketability is currently being assessed. Marifeed

Marifeed has been producing a high quality abalone artificial feed known as ABFEED for the South African abalone industry for the past 10 years. Different formulations of ABFEED are continually subjected to rigorous on-farm trials, and customers are assured of access to a feed that would suit their farming conditions. In 2002, HIK Abalone Farm and Aquafarm Development, two established abalone farms, joined forces to form a joint marketing organization. In May 2005 this organization became Midae Marketing (Pty) Ltd - a separate company with the same management team. In 2006, West Coast Abalone acquired a 10% share in Midae Marketing. Midae Marketing aims to develop a long-term business relationship with each customer and, with the support of our extensive resources, develop and increase our market share.
